Carrie Underwood Concert

"This is my temporary home,
It's not where I belong,
Windows and rooms that I'm passin' through.
This is just a stop, on the way to where I'm going,
I'm not afraid because I know this is my
Temporary Home."

-Temporary Home

Susana, Yayi, and I went to watch the Carrie Underwood concert today downtown Rochester! This is her new album "Play On" tour. There were two openings to this concert: Sons of Sylvia and Craig Morgan. Apparently, they're pretty popular by the applause they got, especially CM, but because none of us really listened to country music...we got really bored (and Susana fell asleep). After an hour, Carrie finally came out!

I have never realized this about her, but her voice is so strong, focused, and directed. The fast songs made you want to dance along and the slow songs were very soothing. I LOVE her voice, especially during the slow songs, where she doesn't have to use that deep tone. I guess this is why she won American Idol. My favorite song tonight has to be Temporary Home (above); I absolutely love the lyrics, it's simple yet unique and sends a great message. There was also a duet she did with Sons of Sylvia, I'm not sure if it's on her album or not, but it was amazing. The many layers and contrast of their two voices worked perfectly.

This was such a different experience from a rock concert. Instead of jumping up and down, I sat in aw at her voice. Instead of singing along, I sat listening and dissecting the lyrics. The concert was definately worth it.
